Twin sister duo delight audiences in New York and Nashville with their clever lyrics and pretty melodies.
Mary and Brianna are an incredibly talented twin sister pop country duo from New York, who have enjoyed success as songwriters and performers. The twins grew up in a musical family and have been performing even before they got their hands on a mic—and that was pretty early! They are currently seniors at Belmont University in Nashville, where they are studying entertainment industry studies and music business, respectively.
The twins are so in tune with each other that it’s hard to break down their process into defined pieces. Yet they do play to their strengths.
Lead vocalist and cowriter Mary is passionate about writing melodies and layering high and low harmonies; she also assists in background vocal arrangements and has a special way of adding perfect nuances that make their songs unique.
Brianna is the storyteller; she's very passionate about creating honest and relatable lyrics and is also the duo's instrumentalist. In addition to singing, she plays the guitar, piano, and harmonica. Although Brianna writes most of the lyrics before bringing them to Mary for vocal arrangement, Mary does participate in the writing process by writing the second verses and bridges—a perfect example of how she adds those aforementioned nuances!
Dedicated to getting their music in front of audiences great and small, they’ve performed during SXSW, the Red Gorilla Fest and at the Beacon Theater for NashBash, opened for Lee Brice, Tyler Farr, and BJ Thomas and been to the Academy of Country Music Awards as T-Mobile's emerging artists.
Mary and Brianna are just as happy in front of smaller audiences at more intimate venues and perform at the Bitter End, Birdland, the Village Underground, and Pianos in NYC and Live Oak, Pier 701, DawgHouse Saloon, as well as Belacourt Taps and Bluebird Cafe, two well known venues that support up-and-coming young talent in Nashville.
Among the artists that have influenced Mary and Brianna are Little Big Town, Shawn Mendes, Maren Morris, Lady Antebellum, and Kelsea Ballerini. Comparatively speaking, Mary and Brianna's music most closely resembles Ballerini's in terms of genre (country-pop), lyrics, and production style.
Over the last few years, the twins have released two singles, “Whiskey and Lust” and “Clockwork,” both of which are included on their latest EP, Whiskey and Lust, another EP titled Manhattan Love Story, released in 2017 and the single, “We Got Love.”
Mary and Brianna add a slice of Nashville sound to Vivaio Records' roster and we are plum glad they had a hankering to sign with our label. I hope we'll do you proud Mary and Brianna. Welcome!
